​The Gisborne/Tairawhiti Junior Champs is the premier local surf life saving sports event for our junior athletes. Come down to check out the action as Gisborne’s young guns compete for top honours in our top local junior competition.

Sat 4th Feb- Sun 5th Feb - Gisb/Tairawhiti Surf Life Saving Senior Champs

The Gisborne/Tairawhiti Senior Champs is the premier local surf life saving sports event for our senior athletes. Come down to check out the action as Gisborne’s elite athletes compete for the prestigious Ralph Morse shield to become top club of the year.

Sunday 4th February - Makorori First Light Longboard Classic

​The  Makorori  First  Light  Longboard  Surfing  Classic  2018  is  an  annual  event  that  started  in  1994.  This  event  is  for  all  levels  of  longboard  surfing,  is  family  orientated,  fun,  social  and  unique.  The  event  has  five  divisions  Over  60s,  Over  50s,  Over  40s,  Open, Womens, Junior   (Under  20). All  entrants  go  in  the  draw  for  the  major  Spot  Prize  of  a  new  custom  Feet  longboard.

Sunday 4th February - Smash Palace – Welcome to Smashville

​The East Coast is renowned for producing some of the best country musicians in New Zealand. With country music riding a wave of popularity around the world, the time is right for New Zealand's best live music venue to host its second annual country music festival. Join us for a stellar line up of local country stars that will see wagon loads of country music fans make the pilgrimage to Smash.

Acts include: Lesley Nia Nia, Steve Kingi Band, The Mo2’s, The Hay Makers and Honey Jam. Tickets just $18 + bf from Under the Radar.

Monday 5th February - Ka Pai Kaiti and Good Karma Waitangi Day Festival

​Ka Pai Kaiti proudly presents the annual Gisborne Waitangi Day Celebrations at Churchill Park.
The event is a celebration of the diversity in Te Tairawhiti with a stong focus on families and community. You can expect loads of activities for kids, live music, information and food stalls.
